Bidding
There are two different ways that you can bid. The first way to bid is to simply move the mouse cursor over the bid button and click. Your bid will be recorded and your name will show up as the highest bidder. Each time that you are outbid by another user you will need to manually click the bid button again in order to bid.
Sometimes there are situations where users need to temporarily take their focus off of an auction but would like to instruct StickyBids to continue bidding for them. The Auto-Bidder feature is designed for these types of situations. Simply instruct the Auto-Bidder how many bids you are willing to spend, as well as a high and low parameter in which the Auto-Bidder will bid for you.
When you 'BOOK' an autobidder, you are committing those specific parameters to bid during an auction; therefore it will deduct that amount immediately from your total available 'Sticky Bids'. Your available bids will remain the same until the auction is ended, then it reconciles. When you win the auction, whatever is left in your autobidder account will credit back to your available 'Sticky Bids'.
Autobidders 'kick in' and bid for you according to the following chart.
20 second auction - Autobidders begin bidding below 20 seconds
15 second auction - Autobidders begin bidding below 15 seconds
10 second auction - Autobidders begin bidding below 10 seconds
REMEMBER - An Autobidder's "Job" is to try to sustain you as the highest bidder, hence possibly improving your chances of winning. You may also try to sustain yourself as the highest bidder manually as well. Autobidders have been put in place to help free up your time.
After you have registered, you can click 'Buy Bids' at the top of the screen or in the account menu. Each bid costs just $0.70, available in Bid Bundles. Bids, aka credits, are required to bid on an auction.
SPECIAL
StickyBids offers a special Startup Bundle only for new members at a 52% savings. You receive 30 bids for $9.99 (reg. $21) PLUS you have full access to The StickySpinner, which allows you to spin for free bids 1 time every day!

You Are Always Winning With StickyBids
Whether you are winning FREE spinner bids with the StickySpinner or taking advantage of Sticky's Buy It Now option, you always win. 100% of your Sticky Bids (purchased) will be applied toward reducing the retail price until you hit ZERO! You only pay the small processing fee.
What a great concept!
You can now play in the auction with no worry that your bids go to waste. As you are aware that bidding is for Shopping Entertainment purposes, to be able to have those bids count toward purchasing the item with the Buy It Now feature, happens to be a great guarantee!
While bidding, you will see the purchase price continuously reduce by .70 each time you hit the bid button or when your auto bidder places the bid for you. The price will continue to drop until you reach the 100% off discount. This discount will be the maximum discount allowed.
If you choose to use your auto bidder, it is your sole responsibility to monitor the amount of bids you want to utilize in the auction.
You can book the auto-bidder feature to place bids for you on any item.
Once you book your auto-bidder, it can only be cancelled before it begins to fire off. The auto-bidder will continue to bid for you, placing bids at a random pace throughout the auction and will continue until it has used all of the bids you have instructed it to utilize. The auto-bidder does not work to maintain your position as high bidder, therefore saving you a significant amount of bids.
Simply instruct the auto-bidder how many bids you are willing to spend, as well as a high and low parameter in which the Auto-Bidder will bid for you. This is a great tool to use to free yourself from the strong grip of your computer.
AUTO-BIDDER TIPS
The auto-bidder will consistently bid against your competitor at a random pace.
How many bids should I set it for? What should I put for the beginning and ending price? No worries... It is very simple.
Start price should be equal to or greater than the current price showing.
Next, determine how many bids you are willing to use to win the auction. Let's say you are willing to use 300 bids to win a KitchenAide mixer. Take 300 multiply by 2 (remember you are bidding against someone & their bids push the price up as well), which is 600. Since each bid increases the purchase price by a penny, to figure the ending price to set, you multiply 600 x .01 = 6.00.
In this example you would start at .01, end at $6.00 and allocate 300 bids.
REMEMBER
Your auto-bidder will end at the lower out of the 2 parameters set for ending price or amount of bids. Using the above example if you set the ending price at 5.25 (instead of 6.00), along with 300 bids, then your auto-bidder will stop at $5.25 EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE MORE BIDS REMAINING.
YOU DO NOT LOSE THE REMAINING BIDS. Your account will be automatically reconciled in this example, usually within 2-3 minutes.
StickyBids wants our site to be entertaining, fun, exciting, and full of fast-paced auctions that give all of our members the opportunity to get the hottest products for as much as 90% or more off retail. We are trying to create a level playing field for everyone!
If we find that any member is participating in any form of “Bullying” in our forums to intimidate new and intermediate players from playing at our site, or “colluding” with other members to dominate an auction, we reserve the right to terminate your account without notice and ban your IP address from our site.
For The Techy
Every computer connecting to StickyBid's servers have different connection speeds. When you bid, you are sending a request to the bid server to process. Depending on the speed of your internet connection this can take milliseconds or seconds.
In distributed applications, lag is often caused by communication latency, which is the time taken for a sent packet of data to be received at the other end. It includes the time to encode the packet for transmission and transmit it, the time for that data to traverse the network equipment between the nodes, and the time to receive and decode the data. This is also known as "one-way latency". A minimum bound on latency is determined by the distance between communicating devices and the speed at which the signal propagates in the circuits (typically 70–95% of the speed of light in vacuum). Actual latency is often much higher because of packet processing in networking equipment, and other traffic.
Please keep this in mind when bidding on StickyBids. Some users are bidding in real time which will allow them to bid in the final seconds of an auction.
If your connection speed is slower than most others, then you need to account for this lag when bidding. Often accounting for this lag will keep you competitive.
For instance: On one auction you may find that bidding when the auction timer says "GOING TWICE" (which is the last instance in an auction you can bid) yields you no bid. It may appear as though the server ignored your bid or it did not work. In fact, your bid was not taken because the auction has already ended.
Testing your latency:
1. Click on the "Start" button.
2. Select "Run". A window will open with a text box.
3. Type cmd in the text box.
4. Click "Ok" or press [Enter]. The command prompt will then appear. This is the default command-line interface for Windows.
Test the loop-back address. Type ping stickybids.com
It is the same for every computer, so you do not need to change this. This will test your computer's network chip, not your modem, router, or Internet connection.
1. You can continuously test a connection using the command ping stickybids.com -t
2. To exit continuous testing, press Ctrl+C.
3. Place -n 20 at the end of the command to send 20 pings. Replace the number 20 with any value (the value will be limited to a 32-bit or 64-bit integer).
Look at the output.
If everything is correct, you will see:
Reply from 127.0.0.1: bytes...
Reply from 127.0.0.1: bytes...
Reply from 127.0.0.1: bytes...
Reply from 127.0.0.1: bytes...
Then it will tell you the ping statistics. This should say 0% loss.
Keep an eye on the response time, as it represents the connection's latency between you and the server. Double digit values, such as 50ms, is very good. This varies drastically depending upon where the server is in relation to your computer. Generally, most connections should have latency less than a few hundred milliseconds. If there is no network connection, you will see the output 'Request timed out' repeated four times.
You can maintain a competitve advantage by logging into StickyBids from at least a cable connection or accounting for your own internet connection latency.
These are credits that you earn by playing at StickyBids, and can be used in the Redemption section of our site. (This is a "coming soon" feature).
